In a letter to HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell, CHIME and ONC stress the need to hire a full-time National Coordinator for the ONC, should Karen DeSalvo continue to serve as both the ONC head and the assistant secretary of health:
“If Dr. DeSalvo is going to remain as the Acting Assistant Secretary for Health with part-time duties in health IT, we emphasize the need to appoint new ONC leadership immediately that can lead the agency on the host of critical issues that must be addressed.”

DeSalvo’s a brain dead robo-doc. Kicking her up into the attic is good for everyone.
Maybe HIMSS and CHIME can get a straight answer out of HHS on DeSalvo’s position. I specifically asked what “acting” meant and if HHS was still searching for a permanent ASH, and whether anyone would be nominated (the position requires Senate confirmation). The reply I got back said what DeSalvo’s background was and her priorities as the acting ASH. Not on point.
Worked for me. Try a different browser?

The link to the AMA web site does not work, please fix it.
