The need for precise “real-time” subsidies is what is dooming the exchanges.
I was not aware that healthcare.gov would be so involved long after the enrollment period.

It now appears that policy cancellation was pretty much a cynical move to beef up the exchanges.

Many of these issues have been on the radar for more than a year. Now that people are either directly feeling the impact or are worried about elections, things might “unravel” pretty quickly. As the old line from Hemingway goes: ‘How did you go bankrupt?’ Bill asked. ‘Two ways,’ Mike said. ‘Gradually and then suddenly.’

Unless I am mistaken, these are all issues that have been the radar for months. To say that Obamacare is “suddenly unravelling” is to overstate the case.
